地理位置：商丘处于东经115 °39' ，北纬34 °25' ，与旧金山、华盛顿、东京处在同一纬度线上。地处黄河南岸，黄淮海平原腹地。平均海拔60 米。
Location: Shangqiu is located in the south bank of Yellow River as the hinterland of HuangHuai Plain with the Average elevation of 60 meters, it is also in the same line of latitude with San Francisco, Washington and Tokyo, that is Longitude 115 °39 ', latitude 34 °25'.
气候：商丘市属暖温带半湿润大陆性季风气候。主要特点是春季温暖大风多；夏季炎热，雨集中；秋季凉爽日照长；冬季寒冷少雨雪。年平均气温在13.9-14.3℃之间，年变幅28℃左右。年平均日照时数为2204．4～2427．6小时，无霜期平均为207～214天。主导风向为南风，次主导风向为西北风。
Climate: Shangqiu is Warm temperate zone with semi-humid continental monsoon climate; the key features are like this: warm and windy spring; hot and rainy summer; cool autumn with long sunshine; cold winter with less rain or snow. The annual average temperature between 13.9-14.3℃, the annual temperature amplitude is about 28 ℃. Yearly average sunshine hours 2204.4 ~ 2427.6 hours, frost-free period is 207 ~ 214 days on average. Dominant wind direction is southerly, sub-dominant wind direction is northwest.
地质：商丘市地处平原，地质结构稳定，没有发生过滑坡、崩塌等地质灾害；地基承载力在100-150kPa之间，地质条件较好，适宜建设。根据《中国地震烈度区划图（1999）》，商丘地震烈度为Ⅵ度。
Geology: Shangqiu is located in plain with stable geological structure, no landslides, collapses or other geological hazards; the foundation bearing capacity between the 100-150kPa, good geological conditions, suitable for building. According to "China's seismic intensity zoning map (1999)", Shangqiu degree of seismic intensity is Ⅵ.
